Our Parent Church
TIMELESS FAITH
Pigori Productions is an extension of the evangelism work of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of the Southern United States and therefore considered a service of the diocese at large.
The Coptic Orthodox Church has a rich history and origins dating back to 43 AD. The word “Copt” comes from the Greek word “Aigyptos”, meaning Egyptian, referring to the Christian population.
“AND HE SAID TO THEM,
‘GO INTO ALL THE WORLD
AND PREACH THE GOSPEL
TO EVERY CREATURE.’”
MARK 16:15 NKJV
Shortly after the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Saint Mark the Evangelist visited Egypt spreading the good news, preaching the gospel, and establishing the churches. The Coptic Church is now led by the Pope of Alexandria, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II who is 118th in succession to St. Mark the Evangelist. Our faith is rooted in the traditions of the apostles and has remained true to their original practices.
Oriental Orthodoxy is the fourth largest communion of Christian churches comprised of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church, and the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, with about 76 million members worldwide. As one of the oldest religious institutions in the world, it has played a prominent role in the history, defense and richness of Christianity across the globe. We follow the Nicene Creed, a statement of faith, adopted by the Council of Nicea in 325 AD and expanded upon in the Council of Constantinople in 381 AD. The Coptic Orthodox Church rejects the Council of Chalcedon of 451 AD where there was a dispute over the nature of Christ, thereby resulting in the division and split between the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches. We believe in One God - the Coessential Trinity. We believe and confess the incarnation, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ who is fully divine and fully human.
